National consumer electronics retailer Circuit City Stores (NYSE:CC) has retained former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani to promote its new Firedog service. The service provides computer setup and in-home installation. Most likely, it's a response to Best Buy's (NYSE:BBY) "Geek Squad" service.
Why would Circuit City be promoting Giuliani in a webcast about its Firedog service? Well, the ad regarding this new promotion -- which I received in my email inbox yesterday -- announces a contest for entrants to write an essay about how much their firehouse has helped the community.
Since Giuliani has been an outspoken proponent of firefighter heroism in the wake of the 9/11 attacks over five years ago, Circuit City's marketing team apparently wants to connect that image to its new "Firedog" service.
Now, explain to me again, what exactly is the connection between the Fire Department and in-home computer services?

Why anyone would want their business associated with a jackbooted Nazi thug like Rudy Giuliani is beyond me.

It's marketing, money and visibility. All you out there that make Rudy a Nazi thug probably have your fingerprints on file somewhere cold and dark if you get my drift. Rudy is making a smart move. He's aligning with a community cause he supports even without Circuit City. Now, making a few bucks at it isn't all bad...you'd do it. Visibility: that's key to his profile numbers come 2007, when he must decide to run for the Big House or not. I've told him before...RUN. You'll get the nod. John McCain is not trustworthy. He waffles and vascillates with the winds of political fortune. He's been in the system too long. It ruins otherwise good men. I know, Rudy is no staunch party-line conservative but he's a leader! He proved that on 9/11 and during his NYC mayoral tenure. Over and out.

I guess the Fund Raising isn't going as well as Rudy expected. I'm very sure he is getting a pretty penney, hawking a service for CC.

Rudy is an expert on SPYING equipment - he used it on his ex-wife and enemies and broke his vows to honor and protect his family with his ugly cheating and out of wedlock liasons while suppossedly posturing as a moral leader.

Be aware about Circuit City extended warranty. The two year plan does not begin after the manufactures warranty. It starts the day you purchase it. The other stores start after the manufactures warranty.
